Brendan Lynch, RIP.

ALL of us at Ladies Football are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Brendan Lynch, who was associated with the Parnells GAA Club in London.

Brendan, a native of Trim in County Meath, passed away last Sunday at 62 years of age.

He was living in Hatch End, London, and was a former chairman of both the Ladies and men’s sections of Parnells GAA Club.

Brendan, who worked tirelessly as a volunteer, was also a former Britain LGFA President, and a huge supporter of the London Ladies Football team.

Brendan was a member of the Ladies Club since the early 1990s and held numerous positions, the latter being vice-chairman, a role he held at the time of his death.

Brendan was also secretary and registrar of the men’s club.

Speaking on behalf of the LGFA, President Marie Hickey said: “The news of Brendan’s passing has come as a shock to all of us. As well as working so brilliantly for Parnells and London, he also served on the provincial council of Britain for many years. We offer our deepest condolences to Brendan’s wife Josephine and family at this difficult time.”

A statement released to The Irish World newspaper on behalf of Parnells outlined the club’s shock and sadness to learn of Brendan’s passing, coming just a few short months after the death of another huge club stalwart, Tom Farrell.

The statement said: “When a club suffers the major loss of such a great clubman it is a traumatic blow, but more than that it is his wife Josephine and his family who are in our thoughts.

“Brendan always had time to speak with everyone across all sections of the club. Originally involved with the men’s board and then subsequently the Ladies.

“He was also a great advocate and supporter of the Youth Development in the club and attended all events where possible.”

Also speaking to The Irish World, London Ladies Football Chairperson Lucia Butler said: “Brendan did a huge amount for Ladies Football in Britain and news of his passing is passing is shocking and devastating.

“London Ladies would like to offer its sincere condolences to Brendan’s wife Josephine, and our hearts go out to everyone at Parnells.”
