Roisín Ennis Named Leinster PPS Player of the Year

Congratulations to Moate CS student Roisín Ennis who has been named as Leinster Post Primary Schools Player of the Year for 2019 after a terrific season for her school, her club, her county and province!

Roisín captained the Moate Community School team who defeated reigning champions Scoil Chríost Rí in this year’s PPS Senior A Leinster Final in December. The Westmeath side had led by 1-07 to 0-05 at half time and a gutsy second half with a superb Ennis ensured a first Senior A title as they ran out 2-11 to 0-09 winners.

Roisín also shone for her club in 2019 as Offaly’s Naomh Ciaran claimed county, provincial and then All Ireland Intermediate Club honours defeating Naomh Pól of Antrim in a thrilling final.  She also represented her county in the Intermediate Championship last season and will no doubt be looking forward to the 2020 season with optimism.

2019 got off to a terrific start as Roisín was part of the Leinster panel that played in the PPS Interprovincial competition that took place in Kinnegad last January. 2020 is off to an even better start, however, as Ennis is once again named on the Interprovincial squad and will captain the side as they look to stop Ulster from 4 in a row of PPS Interprovincial titles!

Leinster LGFA President Dominic Leech and the Leinster Council would like to congratulate Roisín on a wonderful season and we look forward to presenting her with her award at Annual Convention this coming Sunday in the Parkview Hotel, Co. Wicklow.
