Guidelines for Match Officials

The Gaelic Games Roadmap for Return to Activity has been developed in conjunction with the GAA and Camogie Association and the next stage of this is to put guidelines in place for a Safe Return for Match Officials.

Please see full guidelines below for all match officials.

The Referee Covid Supervisor in each County will carry out functions of monitoring the compliance with the protocols for the safe return to play.

Match Officials in each County must complete the following:

The Role of the Referee Covid Supervisor is the following

  •  Ensuring every Referee has completed the Education Module for Covid 19
  •  That every Referee has completed the Health Questionnaire for return to games
  •  Circulation of the Referee Guidelines
  •  They are the contact person for GDPR in relation to protecting the information received.

The REFEREE TAB on the Health Questionnaire will not be enabled until Monday 29th June so it will not be possible to complete the form before that.

The Referee Covid Supervisor must ensure these steps are adhered to and will not include the referee on a list of available officials list until steps are completed.

All of the Covid-19 related supports and resources are available at  https://learning.gaa.ie/covid19 and there will be further videos and supports over the coming week for Covid Supervisors.

Please note it is a breach of the protocols to referee any club game prior to 29th June or county game prior to 14th September, and to referee without completing the eLearning module and Health Questionnaire.
