Leinster wrap: Foxrock-Cabinteely and Dunboyne to contest Senior provincial club Final

Reigning Leinster Champions Foxrock Cabinteely booked their place in their seventh successive Leinster SFC Final on Sunday afternoon when they defeated Offaly champions, Tullamore, by 2-09 to 0-05 in Bray Emmets. An early Katie McNally goal set up the Dublin champions and pushed them into a lead they did not relinquish. Although they had Ciara Murphy sin-binned, Alan McNally’s side led by 1-04 to 0-03 at the break. Andrea Murphy grabbed the hosts second goal just before the second half water break and the Dublin champions pushed on to ensure a 2-09 to 0-05 full time scoreline.

In Tinahely, the home side welcomed Meath champions, Dunboyne in the second semi-final. In what was a scintillating battle, the game went all the way to extra time before victory went to the visitors. The Meath champions scored two goals in the second half courtesy of Julie Kavanagh and Annie Moffatt – with Emma Duggan (who scored 1-09 [4f] overall) getting the third goal deep into the second period of extra time to ensure a first ever Senior provincial final for the Meath club.

Dunboyne will now look to dethrone Foxrock Cabinteely in next week’s provincial final in Coralstown Kinnegad, on Sunday at 1.30pm.

In the Intermediate Quarter Finals, St. Sylvester’s booked their place in the semi-finals with a win against Ballyroan. Katie O’Sullivan found the net in the opening half while Sinéad Aherne hit a second half penalty for the Dublin champions, as they won on a 2-15 to 1-10 scoreline.

Westmeath champions, The Downs found scoring form when they defeated Bray Emmets by 4-16 to 2-04. Meanwhile, Longford Slashers ensured a place in the last four when they sealed victory against a skilled Navan O’Mahonys side. The game went all the way to the wire with the Longford champions ensuring a place in the semi-finals with a single point win. Kate Shannon, Kara Shannon and Jessica Barry all found the net for the Longford Champions. In the final game, Shelmalier saw off a strong Geraldines squad. While Rebecca Carr goaled for the Geraldines, Shelmalier scored two of their own second half goals to seal a coveted semi-final spot.

In the Junior championship, it took extra time to separate Tinahely and Ballyfin. The Laois champions pushed on in extra time to seal a 2-12 to 1-05 win. In the second quarter final, Kilanerin comfortably defeated Muckalee. In the final quarter final, St Jude’s and Skryne played out an enthralling encounter with the Dublin champions emerging on top by 3-07 to 1-10.
