The Ladies Gaelic Football Association are delighted to open applications for their Peer Coach Support Programme and the closing date is Friday 28th March. The aim of the peer coach support programme is to: Provide extra coaching support to coaches who want to improve or further develop their coaching behaviour and approach in their clubs. Explore how a coaches coaching philosophy and values is represented in their coaching sessions Develop the ‘how’ of coaching and how to apply relevant coach education theories to their coaching practice Enable a coach to analyse the performance of a peer coach and provide feedback Role Peer Coach Support Programme Can Play Opportunity to… Explore the skills required to observe and provide feedback to a peer coach Identify personal improvement goals for your peer coaches Skills for the Role are: Understands the Gaelic Games coaching principles that underpin good coach behaviour Ability to focus on the coaching process, rather than the players’ performance Motivated to assist their peer coaches in growth and development Current technical coaching skills and experience Good communication and feedback skills Create a positive environment for learning Willingness to share their knowledge Personal Qualities for the Role are: Enthusiastic and committed Honest and empathetic Flexible and open to new ideas Easily accessible with sufficient time to commit to the role of the support coach What will the Person who Participates from the Club Receive? Training for the role from LGFA (Attendance compulsory) will be provided over three evening sessions online Networking opportunities with other clubs across the country How Many People per Club will be Trained? Min 1 pair of coaches, Max 2 pair of coaches can apply from a club. Please note, coaches must apply as a pair in an application and will be treated as separate applications. Maximum of 10 pairs of coaches will be selected for this programme. The club secretary and coaching officer must be made aware of an application. This will be checked prior to offering of a space on the programme. Cost The cost to participate on the programme will be €30 per person or €60 per pair of coaches. Payment for the programme will be processed in advance following final selection. No refunds will be provided once coaches confirm their place on the programme. Minimum Requirements to Participate in the Programme Participants must: Have completed the LGFA Level 1 Coaching Programme Be 18+ years old Have minimum of 5 years coaching experience Be Actively coaching in Youth/Adult Club Football Be available to attend ALL 3 online sessions of the programme and conduct minimum 2 coach observation sessions in their club setting. Failure to do so will result in removal from the programme. When will Training for the Peer Coach Support Programme take place? Session 1: o Date: Thursday 10th April at 8.30pm via Zoom Each coach must complete one coach observation between session 1 and 2. Complete a self reflection Session 2: o Date: Thursday 1st May at 8.30pm via Zoom Each coach must complete one coach observation between session 2 and 3. Complete a self reflection Session 3: o Date: Thursday 29th May at 8.30pm via Zoom Each session is 1 ½ hours in duration.
