THE countdown is well and truly underway ahead of the concluding stages of the 2025 AIG Ladies HEC Championships. A bumper weekend of action is guaranteed at Queen’s University Belfast, from Thursday March 13-Sunday March 15, with seven pieces of silverware to be handed out. It has been confirmed that all seven competition Finals will be live-streamed, with six Finals via Ladies HEC/LGFA channels, while the flagship AIG O’Connor Cup Final on Saturday March 15 will be available to view live on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@SportTG4/streams In addition, the AIG O’Connor Cup semi-finals on Friday March 14 will also be available to viewers via live streams from Queen’s University. Viewers can tune in live to watch the AIG HEC, Lagan and Moynihan Cup Finals on Thursday March 13, followed by the AIG Donaghy Cup Final on Friday March 14. On Saturday March 15, the AIG, Lynch, Giles and O’Connor Cup Finals will be available to view live. Representatives from competing teams gathered at Queen’s University, Belfast, today, in advance of the competition semi-finals and Finals. To date in the 2025 AIG Ladies HEC Championships, 30 institutions have been involved across the various competitions, with almost 2,200 players taking part. In the weekend’s headline event, the AIG O’Connor Cup, the semi-finals will see 2024 runners-up UCC up against University of Galway, while holders DCU Dóchas Éireann will put their title on the line against UU Belfast. Both semi-finals (1pm and 3pm respectively) will be played on Friday March 13. Ladies HEC Chairperson, Daniel Caldwell, said: “As we move towards the concluding phase of this year’s championships, excitement is building in universities and colleges across the island. “This week has seen the final teams book their places at the weekend, which will see the best teams across 7 divisions compete for silverware. “This year, the AIG HEC Championships will be hosted by Queens University Belfast on the 13th, 14th and 15th of March. “I’d like to wish all of the teams well in their competitions and I look forward to welcoming the teams and supporters to Belfast for what promises to be a great three days of football.” Speaking on behalf of the hosts, Queen’s University Performance Sport Manager, Aidan O’Rourke, said: “Queen’s Sport are delighted to host the 2025 Ladies HEC Championship Finals in Belfast and we look forward to seeing some of the best footballers in the country competing across the three days, in what is our University’s 180th year. “These young women are brilliant role models for Gaelic Games and are shining examples of the impact sport can have on learning and the student experience. “We are looking forward also to collaborating with Ladies HEC to ensure that finals weekend is a fabulous spectacle on and off the pitch.
