Celebrating National Volunteering Week 2026

The Ladies Gaelic Football Association are using National Volunteer Week 2026 to recognise and acknowledge one of the most valuable resources we have – the 1000’s of volunteers generously giving up their time, expertise and energy, to support and develop our games and Association.

National Volunteering Week 2026 centres on the theme “From Every Corner, For Every Cause” which celebrates all the different types of volunteers and volunteering that make up our communities.

From the washing of jerseys, the pitch maintenance, the lotto sellers, the coaching of our players, the administration of our game, and much more at club, county, province and national level. Volunteers are so crucial to all we do, none of it would be possible without volunteers.  You are the true champions of our sport.

Starting on Monday 18 May, we have a series of campaigns highlighting our wonderful volunteers, but we also want you to celebrate your own volunteers at the heart of your club and community.

Below are a series of links and templates you can use to highlight and showcase your wonderful volunteers.

We ask you to promote and acknowledge our volunteers at club, county, and provincial level.

Sharing your volunteer stories and experiences – Use the templates listed below and to tell the story of volunteers in your club or county.

Engaging with our ‘Lunch Time Volunteers’ – Throughout the week (Monday to Friday at 12:30pm) a series of short vodcasts highlighting themes and topics to support both volunteers individually and the units they are involved with will go up on our National Volunteer.

Videos include:

o        Monday – The family connection and sister’s bonds with volunteering with Sports Direct Gaelic4Mothers&Others at club level.

o        Tuesday – The role of provincial assistant secretary.

o        Wednesday – The volunteer years. The path from club, county, province, and now National volunteer at our events.

o        Thursday – The role of a former County PRO, and the pathway they took with Ladies Football.
