Ciara O’Sullivan is the Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent Player of the Month for April. The 17-year-old midfielder was the stand-out performer for St Mary’s of Mallow in their recent Pat the Baker PPS Senior A All Ireland success.

O’Sullivan contributed nine points to her side’s tally two weeks ago as they went on to beat St Louis of Monaghan by two points to claim their first ever Senior A schools title.

Named as player of the match that day against St Louis, it has been a rollercoaster ride for the young Cork star over the last six months. O’Sullivan played a key role in Mourneabbey’s Intermediate All Ireland Club Championship victory in November and has since made her debut for the Cork senior side in this year’s Suzuki National League.

O’Sullivan was due to start for Cork in midfield in Sunday’s national league final but injury ruled her out of the tie as the Rebelettes claimed their 3rd national league division 1 title.

At a presentation ceremony in Croke Park, O’Sullivan said, “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of everyone at St Mary’s. It was a brilliant team performance against a very good side. I would like to thank everyone who was involved with the team throughout the year.”
