Clare U14 Reach Munster Decider

Clare U 14 Girls beat Limerick to reach Munster A semi final.

Clare 4 – 5

Limerick 3 – 2

Clare U 14 girls saw off the challenge of Limerick at Bruff on Saturday last in their 3d match in the Munster Championship. After a slow start which saw them trail by 2 – 1 to 0 – 0 after twenty minutes , Clare suddenly caught fire following some re-structuring of the team and a Fidelma Marrinan 21st minute goal.  Clare tacked on three unanswered points before the interval to trail by just the minimum (1 – 3 to 2 – 1) at the break.

Clare were much the better side in the second half and played great football at times. A goal from Megan Downes put them level and a brace of goals from Meg Brennan in the 53rd & 55th minutes sealed the deal. After a shaky start the defence was excellent with Team Captain Tara Kelly and full back Sarah Marrinan outstanding. Clare have now qualified for the Munster “A” semi-final against either Cork or Kerry which is scheduled for April 19th and either the A or B final on May 3rd. Team Selector Pat Keane (Miltown Malbay ) said he was delighted with the progress of the whole panel and looked forward to good performances in the matches ahead.
