DONEGAL U16 GIRLS TURN ON HEAT AND KERRY BURN

`Donegal traveled the long journey to Caherlistrane in Galway and provided a vintage performance to beat Kerry 6-16 vs. 2-3.Under the management of Kenny Griffin who has been giving Donegal first class service since the early nineties the Girls from the North West turned on a super performance.In the first minute Geraldine Mc Laughlin had the ball in the back of the net and from here on in it was one way traffic.The Donegal defense was rock solid and Kerry got few chances to mount an attack.In the first fifteen minutes points from Roisin Mc Donald,Lorraine Molloy, Ciara Grant, and Geraldine Mc Laughlin without reply from the opposition.Ciara Hegarty got the second goal in the 14th minute with more points from Ciara Grant, Lorraine Molloy, and Niamh Mc Laughlin.With 2-7 on the score board by eighteen minutes the game was now over as a contest.In the last twelve minutes Donegal scored two goals from Geraldine Mc Laughlin,Ciara Grant two points,and one each from Niamh Mc Laughlin, and Lorraine Molloy while Kerry got a point per Jenny O'Mahony, and a goal from Katie Spillane.the score at half time was :

The girls from the North West continued the unfinished business in the second half as they had in the first and Kenny introduced five subs.The Donegal girls in the second half had scores as follows, Ciara Hegarty 1-1, Geraldine Mc Laughlin 1-0, Lorraine Molloy 0-4. Kerry got a goal in a defense error Jenny O' Mahony put the ball in the net, and points from Rheanne O ' Shea,and Lorraine Scanlon.

Scorers for Donegal were Geraldine McLaughlin 4–1, Ciara Hegarty 2-1,Lorraine Molloy 0-7, Ciara Grant 0-4, Niamh Mc Laughlin 0-2, Roisin Mc Donald 0-1.

This was an all round team performance from a great an committed group of girls who now go on to meet Cork in two weeks time. The Cork manager Charlie Mc Laughlin in attendance and one would hope that he will get no easy trip from his native county in the semi final.The big Creeslough man has had phenomenal success with his adopted county over the last several years.
