Double Thriller in Scotstown It was Ulster Club Final day in Scotstown on Sunday and what a feast of football was served up in both games. In the opening match Rockcorry and Moneyglass came head to head for the second week in a row for the Junior replay and again this time it took extra time to decide the issue. Moneyglass led at the break by 0-04 to 0-1 and remained in the lead by three points up untill injury time when Bernie Carroll like in the drawn game popped up with the equaliser this time it was a goal to end level on 0-05 to 1-02. Extra time proved to be a game of two halves with Rockcorry dominating the first period and leading at the turn by 4 points. however they failed to score in the second and Moneyglass reeled them in before Helen Brady hammered in the late goal to secure a deserved win for the antrim girls by 1-09 to 1-07. In the second game the script was torn up in shreds with the underdogs Knockbride edging out red hot favourites Carrickmore in a thrilling game. The vastly experienced Tyrone girls raced into a 1-03 to 0-00 lead after the opening quarter with Lynette Hughes hitting the major on seven minutes. Emma Clarke opened the Cavan sides account on almost twenty minutes and two goals within a minute from Clarke and Elaine Costin had the Knockbride girls in front. Leading at the break by two points 2-04 to 1-05 Knockbride saw this wiped out within five minutes of the restart. They restored their two point advantage up untill twenty minutes when Maire Grogan reduced it to the minimum. At this stage Knockbride were reduced to fourteen players and they also seen their lead disapear with Colette Fox firstly leveling the game and then Elaine Coyle putting carrickmore ahead as we entered injury time. Yet their was still time for Clarke and Costin to weave another piece of magic, with a pin-point pass from Clarke playing Costin in to rifle the ball to the net. Gemma Begley pointed late on for the holders but their was to be no three in a row as Knockbride held out for their first title at the first time of asking by 3-07 to 1-12 Share this Article 0 0
