Fiona McHale is the Player of the Month for November

Fiona McHale is the Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent Player of the Month for November. The Carnacon half forward’s peerless display in the Vhi Healthcare Senior Club Championship final drove the Mayo club to their second consecutive All Ireland title.

McHale, who is a permanent feature of the county side worked tirelessly into the wind in the first half tracking back and relieving pressure when it looked like Inch Rovers were about to run riot. In the second half, McHale became the link between defense and attack and ensured that Carnacon overhauled Inch’s half-time lead and went on to win comfortably in the end.

McHale deservedly won the player of the match that day and the Player of the Month award is further recognition of an her outstanding display in Tullamore.

Speaking at the award presentation in Croke Park, Fiona said, “It is great to receive this award but I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the huge effort and sacrifice put in by the whole team over the year.”
