The Irish Post becomes the official media sponsor to the GAA All Britain Competition 2012

The Irish Post is delighted to announce that they are to become the official media sponsor for the GAA All Britain Competition 2012, which will take place in Tír Chonaill Park in Greenford, North West London from 20th – 22nd July 2012.
The three-day event, which is sponsored by O’Neills sportswear, will see hundreds of children from all around the country descending on Greenford to take part in the first competition of its kind in Britain. It will be a cultural, family-orientated weekend with a busy schedule of events.

This new partnership has been formed to strengthen the relationship between The Irish Post and the GAA community in Britain. The Irish Post will increase awareness of the activities that are taking place through the newspaper and website and will be present in Greenford throughout the competition, reinforcing its position as the paper at the heart of the Irish community in Britain.

Niamh Kelly, Chief Executive of The Irish Post said: “We pride ourselves on our outstanding GAA coverage so we are hugely excited to team up with the GAA and O’Neills for this event, which will showcase everything that is positive about the Irish community in Britain.”

A representative from the GAA said: “Over the past number of years members of the current ABC steering committee attended the CYC in America and felt it would be beneficial for the GAA in Britain to establish a similar competition in Britain. The ABC intends to showcase the work that has been undertaken at all levels of the association in Britain. The ABC will highlight the work done by the Officers of the Provincial Council of Britain, the members of each counties Coaching & Games Committees, the individual CDA’s based in each county and the volunteers within each club nationwide. The ABC will be a benchmark of where the GAA is in Britain. The ABC committee would like to thank Tír Chonaill Gaels for hosting the inaugural competition. We would like to thank O’Neills and The Irish Post for coming on board as sponsors of the ABC. Finally all the support from Croke Park and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Liam O’Neill in his role as chairman of Coaching & Games, Joe McDonagh as chairman of the Overseas Committee and Ann Gibney at Croke Park. The ABC will be a family oriented weekend filled with fun and excitement.”

Susie Robinson, UK Sales Manager of O’Neills said: “O’Neills are absolutely delighted to be the main sponsor of the forthcoming ABC tournament in July and look forward to welcoming its many participants to Tír Chonaill Park in July of this year. We are confident that the tournament will be a wonderful success; not only this year but for many years to come, and we look forward to working alongside The Irish Post and the tournament committee to make it a wonderful occasion for all who attend, both young and old.”
