Juliette savours another title

Juliette Savours another title

After the game Juliette Murphy was happy to have
the Suzuki NFL trophy back in her hands for another year but admits
it was hard to retain ” great to win again, it was a very hard
game out there, the speed and intensity was unbelievable. We found
it very hard to cope with Meath’s height, their fielding and skill
to hold procession. We showed great character and eventually we
pulled off the victory”

Cork raced five clear and looked like there was going to be no
stopping them. It was something Murphy was happy about but not
with the way they let Meath back in ” we usually are slow
starters so we were happy with the start we got but not with the
way we let them back into it and only going in level at half time.
I was disappointed we didn’t take advantage of the start we got
and pulled clear of them. We seemed to relax a little and they
took advantage”

The game now is not just the starting selection and that was
something Murphy was quick to point out as we talked about substitutes
Geraldine O’Flynn and Mary O’Connor’s contributions when introduced
” it is not one to fifteen anymore, each game you need twenty
players and each as good as the next. We are lucky to have that
in our panel and it showed tonight with both Mary and Geraldine
scoring vital points when introduced” The league is safely
back on the banks of the Lee for another twelve months but now
the attention turns to the TG4 championship. ” we know we
still have a lot of work to do before championship time. We will
sit down and watch this game and see what we must improve on.
The championship is the big one but I think the league has shown
this year everyone takes it very serious.

That has been shown by the high quality games we have had to
date this year and out there tonight you can tell what it means
to every player”
