Despite being down 7 points at half time Kerry managed to lead by a point half way through the second half but couldn’t hold on. Cork as they have in recent ties against Kerry scored a goal in the first 3 minutes giving the Kerry team a mountain to climb. Kerry response was automatic as Louise Galvin ran at the Cork defence & earned a free which was tipped over by Sarah Houlihan. However shortly after Cork struck for a second goal, with their half back line driving forward to create overlaps & options for recycling possession. Louise Galvin struck for a fortunate goal when a point attempt lobbed over the Cork keepers head to keep the Kingdom side in the game. However Cork kicked over some good scores to keep daylight between the sides. Half time Cork 2-08 Kerry 1-04. Kerry made changes at half time & this made an immediate impact. Megan O’Connell who replaced Lorraine Scanlon at full forward was instrumental in creating a goal which was finished off by Louise Ni Mhuirteartaigh. With Sarah Houlihan proving very efficient from placed balls & from open play Kerry managed to lead by a point mid way through the half. Cork sensing the game was going from them introduced subs of their own to freshen the team, including Eimear Scally who went onto score 1-01 in the dying minutes of the game as Kerry failed to clear their lines. Final Score Cork 3-11 Kerry 2-10.
