The Ladies Gaelic Football Association will play a significant role in this weekend’s Liberty Insurance Games Development Conference with several key speakers set to impart their knowledge to those in attendance. The conference, which has become an integral part of the Gaelic Games calendar, will get underway on Friday, January 9th and will conclude on Saturday 10th. This year the theme of the conference will be ‘Putting Youth into Perspective’ which will deal with the issues, challenges and opportunities surrounding the coaching of youths. Events will get underway on Friday with the GAA Coach Education Forum. On Saturday there will be a vast array of speakers talking across a huge range of topics. Amongst these speakers will be Áine Tighe who will present the results of her research topic ‘A Qualitive Analysis of the Punt Kick Comparing the Dominant and Non-Dominant Foot,’ Áine is known to supporters of Ladies Gaelic Football as a star player with Leitrim Ladies Footballers and an All Star Nominee in 2014. 2 time All Star and former Cork All Ireland winning goalkeeper, Elaine Harte, will join Wesley O’Brien, Education Lecturer at UCC, where they will speak on the topic of ‘Empowering Players- Building the Relationship between Coach and Player’ a topic which Elaine will speak from plenty of experience having been a selector with All Ireland Minor B Champions, Tipperary. As always, the conference is expected to be a mine of information for all fans of gaelic games with opportunities to learn from some of the best minds in sport, including the likes of Sonia O’Sullivan, as well as having a chance to network with sports enthusiasts from right across the country.
