LAST year’s winner Eimear Smyth leads the race for the 2025 ZuCar Golden Boot award. The Derrygonnelly Harps star is out in front with a haul of 4-22 (34 points) but Fermanagh’s campaign came to an end last weekend with defeat after extra-time against Tyrone in a thrilling TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship quarter-final. The race is now on to overtake Smyth at the head of affairs, with stars from Antrim and Monaghan well placed to capitalise. In second place is Antrim’s Maria O’Neill on 6-14 (32 points) and with a TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship semi-final to come against Sligo on Sunday July 13. Cavan’s Aisling Gilsenan is in third place on 1-27 (30 points) but the Breffni County exited the Intermediate Championship at the quarter-final stage against Westmeath. Monaghan’s Éahba Sherry, in fourth place on 4-14 (26 points), will feel she’s still in the hunt ahead of an Intermediate semi-final against Laois, while fifth-placed Deborah Murphy (Limerick) can’t trouble the leading contenders as the Shannonsiders have bowed out of the Junior Championship. The ZuCar Golden Boot award will be awarded to the top scorer across the TG4 All-Ireland Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championships. Smyth claimed the coveted individual award in 2024 on the back of an incredible season. Share this Article 0 0
