A key focus of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association is to encourage more of our players (current and former) to get involved in other avenues to continue their involvement within the sport and utilise and develop their expertise and experience. To date, this offer has primarily focused on supporting players to enhance their coaching qualifications through a specific Intercounty Player Level 1 Coaching Course which has been held annually. In 2026, the Intercounty Player Offer will expand beyond this to include other opportunities in the fields of athletic development, officiating and performance analysis as well as the coaching strand. Full details on individual opportunities are below: Opportunity One – F3 Youth Athletic Development Programme About: A coaching course focused on improving the physical development of players aged 13-18 (F3 Youth stage). It uses a blended learning approach, requiring participants to complete online modules and a face-to-face practical session to learn about athletic development, the Player and Coach Pathway, and sports science. Date: Saturday 17th January 2026 Venue: National Handball Centre, Dublin Time: 10am-4pm Registration: https://forms.office.com/e/NK2ZuHA5AF Opportunity Two – Grab Your Whistle Adult Referee Course About: The course is designed to recruit and train referees and on completion of the course the referee will be qualified to referee competitive club football at adult and juvenile level. Date: Saturday 21st March 2026 Venue: National Games Development Centre, Dublin Time: 10am-5pm Registration: https://forms.office.com/e/5H4ExF0ZcT Opportunity Three – Introduction to Performance Analysis About: An introductory course designed to teach coaches and players how to use data and video to improve performance in Gaelic games. The course provides fundamental skills in developing and implementing a performance analysis process, covering topics like data collection, analysis, feedback, and communication, and is a prerequisite for more advanced analysis courses. It emphasizes how performance analysis can serve as a valuable coaching tool to enhance player and team performance. Dates: Monday 11th May 2026, Monday 25th May 2026, Monday 8th June 2026, Monday 22nd June 2026 Venue: Online Time: 7.30pm – 9.30pm each evening Registration: https://forms.office.com/e/FW3m54xe1A Opportunity Four – Intercounty Player Level 1 Coaching Course About: This course targets past and current LGFA Inter County players who will be accredited to Level 1 within the Coaching Development Programme (CDPI) based on an objective assessment of their previous experience and qualifications. This course content, format, duration and structure have been adjusted from a regular LGFA level 1 coaching course to reflect the value of prior playing experience at a high level. Date: Saturday 7th November 2026 Venue: Marino College, Dublin Time: 10am-5.30pm Registration: https://forms.office.com/e/rtudPahzKJ The offer is designed provide experienced players with diversified avenues to continued involvement and to reward and recognise their contribution to our sport. To be eligible to apply, each applicant must have: At least 3 years playing experience at adult intercounty level 18+ years of age. Other specific criteria for individual courses may apply. Note: other specific criteria may be applicable to some courses on offer. Please note, all courses are separate so participants will need to be apply for each offering individually and closing dates for applications differs per course.
