LGFA National Development Day

On Saturday the 18th of February 53 people attended the National Development Day in Croke Park.

2012 was the 3rd year of this Development Day and by all accounts it is going from strength to strength. This year was driven by practical tasks and the phrases of the day were ‘Capacity Building and Raising Standards.’

The County Development Officer is a crucial part of any County Board. Development of our sport is crucial for our future. The overarching aims of this day is to ensure that all development across the LGFA is aligned, i.e. that everyone is working towards the same final goals, and that the people on the ground get as much support and training as is possible.

The structure of the day was as follows:

11.30 a.m.       Welcome and Introductions

11.35 a.m.       Expectations

11.40 a.m.       National Development Structure

Delivered by Paula Prunty. Paula outlined the structure of the National Development team, who they were, what are their roles and how they work.

11.45 a.m.       2012 Strategic Plan Goals

Delivered by William Harmon. William discussed the development targets and objectives that are outlined in the Strategic Plan.

12.15 p.m.       2012 ExcelR8 Programme

Delivered by Mary Corry. Mary discussed the revamped Merit Based Funding structure which is now called ExcelR8. She outlined how the 2011 structure was reviewed and developed to reach the new format.

12.30 p.m.       2012 Club Officer Programme

Delivered by Lyn Savage. Lyn discussed the new format of the Club Officer Programme and how it will be rolled out.

12.45 p.m.       Lunch

1.15 p.m.         Club Development

Workshop 1: Delivered by William Harmon and Lyn Savage. This practical workshop took attendees through a workshop that they could deliver to clubs within their Counties.

2.15 p.m.         County Development Planning

Workshop 2: Delivered by Paula Prunty and Mary Corry. The second practical workshop training the attendees in how to put a county development plan in place.

3.30pm             Close

Closing speech given by President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association Pat Quill.

 

Feedback from the attendees reflected a well received day that provoked thought, discussion and debate.
