Continuing the momentum of its ‘Get Behind the Fight Campaign’ to smash inequality in sport and provide #SeriousSupport to Ladies Gaelic Football, Lidl Ireland has announced the return of its Lidl Plus LGFA Club Rewards Scheme, which gives communities the chance to support their local clubs and earn rewards through its stamp card initiative. From Monday, 17th February, Lidl customers can register through the Lidl Plus app and sign up to be part of the rewards scheme to earn rewards for their local club – from Lidl sponsored jerseys to €5,000 in cash funding – with the top-performing club in the country scoring a cash prize of €50,000, and three runners-up earning up to €10,000 in funding. Now in its fourth year, the Lidl Plus LGFA Rewards scheme has seen more than 800 LGFA teams benefit from new jerseys and up to €370,000 in funding over the last three years, with more than €700,000 invested in local teams altogether. Last year, Coláiste Cholmcille in Donegal scored the top prize of €50,000 for securing the most votes whilst Carlow’s Presentation De La Salle, Cork’s St Mary’s Secondary School Mallow and Galway’s Coláiste Bhaile Chláir were runners-up, and each awarded €10,000 by Lidl. Christine McIntyre, Head of Partnerships and Events at Lidl Ireland, said: “At Lidl we are proud to be a leader for female sports in Ireland, having launched the first major sponsorship of female sport in Ireland with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association back in 2016. We’re super excited to bring back our Lidl Plus LGFA Club Rewards Scheme which has been a huge success in raising awareness and much needed support for LGFA clubs all over the country. Support starts at the grassroots level and it’s crucial that we are encouraging young girls to get involved and stay in sports from an early age. By continuing this reward scheme and using our Lidl Plus Stamp Cards to raise awareness, and funds, we hope to give LGFA clubs across the country access to more resources. It’s a community effort. Every stamp customers collect brings local clubs one step closer to earning those big rewards. So, get involved, spread the word, and let’s support our local clubs like never before!” Since 2016, Lidl has invested over €10 million through its partnership with the LGFA, significantly changing how the game is perceived. Commenting on the initiative, Carla Rowe, TG4 All-Ireland Winner and Dublin LGFA Player said: “The Lidl Plus LGFA Rewards Scheme is just one of the many ways that Lidl has shown its serious support for Ladies Gaelic Football and it’s great to see the momentum already behind it. It’s a brilliant opportunity for our clubs across the country to raise much needed funds to help build on the progress we’ve made and to continue to encourage participation and growth in the sport. I would encourage friends, families, colleagues and local communities to get involved and join the movement to support the Lidl Plus LGFA Stamp Cards Reward scheme. By simply shopping with Lidl and using the Lidl Plus app until 16th March, shoppers can make a significant impact on their local Ladies Gaelic Football club. Rallying together not only fosters community spirit but also supports young female athletes and helps level the playing field for women’s sports across the country. Join us in this exciting fundraiser and let’s make a difference together, providing better funding and opportunities for girls to thrive in sport!” How It Works: · Register: Download the Lidl Plus app and sign up for the rewards scheme. · Shop: Spend €50 or more at Lidl and scan your Lidl Plus app at the till. · Earn Stamps: Collect stamps on your digital stamp card.
