Mayo notes 14.03.2013

Club football resumes in Mayo this weekend. Our 2013 season opens with action in the Senior Leagues. We have plenty of encounters with 18 teams contesting the ever valuable three points over three grades. In Division 1 reigning league champions, Carnacon, take on Castlebar Mitchels. Newcomers to Division 1, Westport A, play host to Cill Chomáin, while Kilmovee Shamrocks travel to Knockmore. Moy Davitts give up home advantage, due to an unplayable pitch, and travel to Hollymount. In  Division 2 St. Brigids, following relegation, will be anxious to get off to a good start and secure a win over local rivals Kilmoremoy. Charlestown travel to Breaffy, while Louisburgh take on an unknown entity – the newly amalgamated Crossmolina Lahardane McHale Rovers. Last year’s Division 2 finalists Swinford/Killaser have a BYE.  In Division  3 Claremorris entertain newcomers to the adult scene – St. Mary’s. Achill will be hoping to continue last year’s good form and open their season with a win over The Neale. Balla host shield winners Westport B while the other news girls to division 3 – Ballindine have a BYE and have to wait a bit longer to enter the fray.
