McHale is the Player of the Month for May

Fiona McHale was today honoured with the Croke Park Hotel Player of the Month Award for May. The Mayo star was one of the stand out performers for her county as they reached the TESCO Homegrown Division 1 Final. Fiona returned to action later in the month when she represented Connacht in the MMI Interprovincial tournament. The Carnacon player operated between the half forward line and midfield where she was hugely effective. Although her Connacht side was unsuccessful in their quest for the Interprovincial crown Fiona was selected as the player of the tournament.

Speaking about the presentation LGFA President, Pat Quill said ‘Fiona is one of the outstanding players in the game right now and has been for the last few years. Her performances with Carnacon, Connacht and, of course, Mayo have marked Fiona out as a star player. I would like to wish Fiona and her Mayo teammates the very best of luck in their quest to reach the 40th TG4 Senior Ladies All Ireland Final.’

Fiona is the third recipient of the Croke Park Player of the Month Award following the receipt of the April award by her team mate Cora Staunton and Cork’s Mairead Corkery who claimed the March award following her performances in the TESCO Homegrown Post Primary Schools Finals.
