Munster Key 2 Coaching debut a huge success

Last Saturday Munster Ladies Gaelic Council embarked on a new initiative when the first Key 2 coaching clinic took place in the fantastic surroundings of Moyle Rovers in Tipperary. Coaches from Tipperary and Waterford attended the 2 and a half hour clinic where they were treated to some expert tips from some of the top names in Ladies Gaelic Football coaching circles. Waterford native, Michael Ryan took the participants through the details of preparing for a typical coaching session before they headed outdoors to see that typical coaching session in action. Under 14, 16, 18 from Moyle Rovers provided the players for the session with Noel O’Connor, coach of the Cork Senior Ladies. The coaches present had the opportunity to observe excellent coaching techniques on teaching the basic skills, developing them and providing fun and a challenge to players throughout. During the coaching session national tutors Nora Aherne and Mary Beades facilitated the observation of the coaching techniques by providing additional information and ideas to the coaches.
The clinic concluded with a questions and answers session involving the presenters, players and coaches.

The feedback from the coaches was fantastic;” great to see a top class coach in action, organisation, well thought out drills and encouragement”. Another coach commented the they liked that they “were observing rather than participating as you can really see what’s happening, it was all go, go, go!”.

The clinic was also attended by Marie Halvey: Munster Ladies administrator and national tutors Michael Myers, Irene Hogan and Miriam O’Connell

Further clinics are planned for other areas of the province in coming weeks, any coaches interested in attending are asked to contact munster@ladiesgaelic.ie

Next stop Kerry with a date to be decided.

Pictures from the clinic can be seen on the national website
