New appointments for Laois County Board

Cóilín Duffy has been appointed as the new Laois Ladies Football PRO, following the Annual Convention at the Leinster Council Offices on Friday night last.

The 27-year old succeeds long-serving PRO Michael O’Loughlin from the Sarsfields club.

He follows in the footsteps of his father Peadar who was a former Assistant Treasurer/Registrar for Laois LGFA during the 90’s.

Speaking to delegates on Friday night, Cóilín expressed his delight at taking the position.

“It is a tremendous privledge for me to take this role,” the St. Conleth’s clubman said.

“Even though I am new to the County Board I am not new to an awful lot of people in Laois Ladies Football.

“My Dad Peadar was involved was St. Conleths and before that with Courtwood.

“For me this role is not about myself, but for you the clubs feeding in information to me so that together as a team we can work to help publicise Laois Ladies Football as best we can.”

Duffy who has previously held the roles of National Higher Education GAA PRO and Ulster Camogie PRO also heaped praise on outgoing PRO Michael O’Loughlin.

“Michael has left me with a tough act to follow,” he said.

“I hope I can do this role justice. Michael thanks for your great work over the years and hopefully I can do some good in trying to fill your boots, but it will be tough I know.”

Meanwhile, Kate Dempsey daughter of former Laois Senior and Minor Mens Football manager Sean will be assistant PRO.
