New Ladies football club for Grenagh For the past number of years Ladies Football has been the fastest growing sport in the country. Grenagh is the latest club to join the growing number of the clubs in the Co. The new club will be part of the existing camogie club. The General meeting took place last week and the following were elected. Executive Officers- Chairman: Donal Hurley, Vice-Chairperson: Ann Donovan, Secretary: Mary O’Keeffe-Jones, Assistant Sec: Mary Donovan, Treasurer: Christine O’Keeffe, Assistant Treasurer: Padraig Sheehan, P.R.O.: Fr. Liam Kelleher, Assistant P.R.O.: Willie Sherlock, Insurance Officer: Tim McSweeney, Fund-Raising: Ann Murphy & Ken O’Callaghan, School’s Liaison Officers: Valerie O’Farrell & Ann Buckley, Children’s Officers: Deirdre Allen & Mary O’Connell. Fr Liam Kelleher will co-ordinate the training for the football section, he has huge experience in the sport having first got involved when he was in Whitechurch with successful Sciath an Scoil teams, before being a founding member of the very successful Rockban Club. He was involved with Cork for 7 years and during that time he helped train 8 All-Ireland winning teams 4 under 14, 2 under 16 and two Minor. Already there is a good necleus for a team in the Grenagh with girls in the local National School in Rathduff reaching the final of the Sciath na Scoil at Pairc Ui Rinn where they lost an exciting final to Inch NS.
