O'Neills Dowd Cup Refixed

O’Neills Dowd Cup Refixed
After the disappointment of having to call off the tournament at the weekend www.ulsterladiesgaelic.com are delighted to announce that dates have been refixed for the McNally Plate & the ONeills Dowd Cup. As many will appreciate, this was no easy task as all weekends are now taken up with National League fixtures, and with the OConnor Cup series starting, mid week game times are also difficult to find.

The following format has been agreed:

Both the ONeills Dowd Cup and McNally Plate formats have been changed as there is not enough time in the fixtures calender for a round robin competition as originally planned. Coleraine and St Marys have opted to play in the McNally Plate only which means that QUB 1sts and UUJ 1sts will play in the ONeills Dowd Cup in a straight final. In the McNally Plate a prelim round and semi-finals have been arranged to qualify for the final. The draw took place and the following dates have been agreed:

McNally Plate:

Preliminary Round – QUB 2nds v Magee @ a neutral venue to be played on or before Friday 20th Feb.

Semi-Finals – Mon 23rd Feb – St Marys v Coleraine and UUJ 2nds v QUB 2nds/Magee. First named team have home advantage.

Final – Thurs 26th Feb @ 6.30pm in Casement Park, Belfast.

ONeills Dowd Cup:

Thurs 26th Feb – UUJ 1sts v QUB 1sts @ 8pm in Casement Park, Belfast.

Oliver Gavan Cup:

As this competition is between SWC Fermanagh and Cavan Institute both colleges can decide on a time and date to suit. The likelihood is that this match will take place in the Lisnaskea area. Details will be posted on www.ulsterladiesgaelic.com

The organisers of the competition would like to thank Ulster GAA for their support in refixing this important event in the ladies calender. To get the finals as a double header under lights in Casement Park is a great attraction for players and supporters alike and it is hoped that many will turn out to support the girls on 26th. Fingers crossed the weather will be a bit kinder come the end of the month!
