Pat the Baker All Ireland Post Primary Junior A Final

Loretto Pip Dunmore in Triller

Loretto College, Omagh 3-12 Dunmore, Galway 3-10

Loretto College, Omagh prevailed in a fascinating contest to secure the Pat the Baker Post Primary Schools Junior A title in Pairc Sean in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Loretto raced into an earlier lead with a goal from Nicola Donnelly and points from Nicola Quinn and Kerrie McGarvey but a goal from Lucy Hannon helped to keep Dunmore in with a chance despite Loretto taking an 8 point lead into half time.

Dunmore fought back in the second half and two goals from Nicola Kilgarriff swung the tie in favour of the Galway school. Dunmore looked to have completed an amazing comeback as they led by two points with just seconds left on the clock, when Loretto’s Teri McCusker converted a last ditch penalty to claim the victory and the title. Loretto’s Naomi McAnulla was named as the Player of the Match.
