Princes Trust TEAM programme Information

The Prince’s Trust, in conjunction with Southern Regional College, is currently working to deliver the TEAM programme. The TEAM programme works specifically with 16 to 25-year-olds who are currently unemployed, though not necessarily on benefits. TEAM targets educational underachievers, those who are in or are leaving care, young offenders, ex-offenders, single parents and those with addiction problems.

TEAM is a full-time, 12-week programme of personal development. The young people will take part in an action-packed programme, which begins with team-building activities, including a week in a residential activity centre. The programme also includes completing a project within the local community, carrying out work placements and participating in team challenges. Existing benefits (i.e. JSA) are not affected. 16 to 17-year-olds can claim up to £30 per week for attendance along with additional claims for childcare and bus fares if required.

Some of the skills that the young people develop include communication, working with others, confidence building, tolerance and leadership. The young people that complete the course will be awarded a nationally recognised qualification: City & Guilds Level 1 in Personal Development and Contributing to the Community.
