Sports Direct, official sponsors of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association’s Gaelic4Mothers&Others programme, were joined today by well-known podcaster, Laurita Blewitt, to kick off the countdown to the return of the Gaelic4Mothers&Others National Blitz for the first time since 2019. This year’s National Blitz will take place on Saturday, September 3rd at Naomh Mearnóg and St Sylvester’s GAA clubs in Dublin. Now in their second year of their partnership with the Gaelic4Mothers&Others programme, Sports Direct has teamed up with Laurita Blewitt, who has joined her local Gaelic4Mothers&Others programme at her local club in Knockmore, Co. Mayo, and she will be making her return to Ladies Gaelic Football for the first time in nine years. The Sports Direct Gaelic4Mothers&Others programme is an innovative way to introduce mothers and other women to Ladies Gaelic Football in a fun, non-competitive and social environment. The initiative has proven immensely popular since its inception, with almost 400 clubs from all 32 counties currently involved, with the aim to grow this further throughout 2022. As proud supporters of grassroots Gaelic Games in Ireland, Sports Direct not only understands the power and positivity of sport and participation, but also the necessity for equal play in our sporting landscape. The brand is committed to mobilising its customers to embrace physical activity in a fun and social way, while ensuring that women have equal opportunities in order to make this current era of sport a fairer and more equal one for all and this year, as part of their support for the programme, they will once more be championing #MyReasonWhy, showcasing the participants’ reason why – why they’re involved in Gaelic4Mothers&Others, and why it means so much to them. Laurita’s journey with Knockmore will form part of this series, as she will document her journey with the programme, revealing her own reason why she is making a return back to the sport along the way. Speaking ahead of the Sports Direct Gaelic4Mothers&Others National Blitz, Ciara Murray, Head of Marketing at Sports Direct said: “At Sports Direct, we believe in the power of sport in bringing individuals together over a shared passion and love of the game.
