St Rynaghs, Banagher; 1.00pm (C Groome)

St Mary’s of Mallow claimed their first ever all Ireland title beating St Louis of Monaghan to win the Pat the Baker Post Primary Schools Senior A All Ireland title.

The Cork school prevailed in a closely fought affair in front on a large crowd a St Rynaghs GAA Club in Banagher Co Offaly. Despite an early scare when St Louis struck the cross bar in the opening minutes, St Mary’s started the game in good store with points from Ciara and Doireann O’Sullivan.

Points from Ciara McAnespie and Natasha Mohan reduced the deficit for St Louis but the sinbinning of Catriona Treanor allowed St Marys to establish a 9-6 lead at the interval. Ciara O’Sullivan added a further three points in the first six minutes of the second half and St Mary’s appeared to be pulling away until Caoimhe Mohan netted a goal to bring St Louis back into the tie.

Further points from Sinead Maguire, Natasha Mohan and Ciara McAnespie deep into injury time reduced St Mary’s lead further but a late late point from Katie Buckley gave St Mary’s the final say ending the game, 0-14 to 1-9 in favour of the Cork school.
