TESCO Homegrown Re-Scheduled Fixtures this Weekend

Tesco HomeGrown Ladies National Football League Round 1 Preview

Following a weather affected beginning to the TESCO Homegrown National Football League a number of matches have been refixed for this weekend with games in the top 3 Divisions taking place.

Undoubtedly, the TESCO Homegrown Division 1 meeting between Monaghan and Dublin is the big game this weekend as the match is due to take place on Sunday in Iniskeen at 2pm following the postponement of the original fixture from Round 1. The extra wait seems to have done neither county any harm as they have both gone on to hold 100% records since. Dublin had a fantastic victory over Kerry in round 2 and travelled to Mayo in round 3 where they accounted for a Cora Staunton inspired home side. Monaghan had a comprehensive win over Laois in Round 2 before producing a fantastic away performance to defeat the defending champions, Cork last weekend. The winner of this match will move to the top of the table on their own and put themselves into a great position to reach the knock out stages.

Kerry and Laois are also due to meet this weekend with the two sides on the same points after playing two matches. A win for either team will propel them towards the knock out places but defeat will push them towards the wrong end of the table nearing the midpoint of the league.

In Division 2 Kildare will meet Galway with John Divilly hoping his Lilywhites will record a victory over his native county. Kildare have suffered more from the weather than any other county to date having only played one round; a heartbreaking loss against neighbours, Meath. Galway are the favourites for the Division 2 title having reached the final in the previous 2 years, a win would push them joint top of the table with Westmeath.

There are two matches in Division 3 where title favourites, Armagh will meet Longford and promotion chasers, Leitrim will visit strugglers, Offaly in the final fixture of the round.
