Armagh v Waterford

St Lomans Lake Point Park, Westmeath, 4.15pm, (J Murray)

Armagh exited the Ulster Championship early at the hands of Donegal but remain a formidable outfit.  The team boasts an abundance of talent with the likes of Caoimhe Marley, the O’Donnell twins, Aileen Matthews and Mags McAlinden among their ranks.

Waterford were cruising in Division 2 of the National League until Donegal also ended their hopes of promotion back to the top flight.  The team has not recovered from that loss and subsequently suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Kerry in the Munster Championship.

Armagh are still sore about losing their Ulster crown and a backlash is in the offing for a deflated Waterford side.

ARMAGH: D Hagan, O Murtagh, D Toal, C McCann, C Marley, B O’Donnell, R O’Mahanoy, M McGuinness,  A O’Donnell, M Morriarty, S O’Hagan, M O’Donnell, C Murray, A Matthews, M McAlinden

WATERFORD: A Jordan, A Ryan, D Frost, L Hogan, L Ryan, E Cooney, R Hallahan, M McGrath, M Ryan, A McGovern, E Power, G Kennealy, R Manahan, S Ryan, M Ryan

VERDICT: Armagh

Down v Meath

St Lomans Lake Point Park, Westmeath, 6.00pm, (L McDonagh)

Down are a team on the verge of breaking through on the very competitive Ulster scene and with three clinical finishers in Michaela Downey, Sonya McGaw and Aileen Pyers it is only a matter of time before they are challenging for honors.

Meath’s dismal league campaign lead to relegation to Division 2 but the Royals have since regrouped and stuck with Dublin for the majority of their Leinster semi-final until the Jackies pulled away in the final quarter.  There is plenty of quality in the side with All Stars Grainne Nulty and Geraldine Doherty back to fitness.

The Mourne County will rue the number of goals they conceded against Tyrone in their last outing and this is an area that Meath will look to capitalise on.

DOWN: E McCourt, J Connell, E Downey, N Lennon, E Mulhern, A Downey, S Fegan, S Murphy, K Trainor, K Gribben, L Morgan, O Fegan, S McGaw, M Downey, A Pyers

MEATH: I Munnelly, J Scanlon, M Sheridan, A O’Rourke, L Keenan, L McKeever, A Carolan, M Sheridan, G Nulty, B Brennen, J Rispin, N O’Sullivan, G Doherty, E Duffy, A Jordan

VERDICT: Down
