Tipperary Ladies Football Scene

Tipp Senior Ladies Bow out.

Tipp senior ladies bowed out of the championship last Saturday when they were beaten by last years All Ireland final runners up Tyrone.Tipp went into the game confident following a terrific victory against Clare the previous week and saw a chance to put one over on the Tyrone girls.Tipp found scores hard to come by in the opening half despite some good football, and went in at half time trailing by 0-10 to 0-05.The second half saw Tyrone score two early goals to send them on their way to a win,and despite a late Tipp rally with a late goal it was however not enough with Tyrone emerging victorious on a final score line of Tyrone 2-20 Tipperary 1-11.This brings down the curtain on the seniors 2011 campaign which had mixed fortunes for the ladies. However with some brilliant young talent coming through within the county senior honours are not far off.A big thanks to Derry,Libby and Kathleen for all your work and to the ladies for your effort and commitment in 2011.

4 in a row for Tipp u16 girls.

Last saturday week saw the Tipp u16 ladies make it 4 in a row of munster titles when they defeated Limerick in the Munster u16 final played in Ballyagran Co.Limerick.The game was nip and tuck all the way with great scores on both sides and at half time Tipp led by 2-06 to 0-07.The second half continued much in the same way as the first with tipp getting the all important goals to seal victory on the final scoreline of Tipp 3-11 Limerick 1-10.The game could have been a lot closer but for the heroics of Tipp goalie Jackie O Gorman(Brian Borus) who made some wonderful second half saves, which earned her the player of the match award.Tipp captain Kirsty Downey accepted the trophy on behalf of the Tipp team.Well done to the management team of Manager: Andrew Meaney,Selectors:Tony Fox,Carl McCarthy,Thos Condon and Siobhan O Donnell.Together with the u14s winning the All Ireland final this shows the amount of work been done at underage development and how important it is for the future of Tipp Ladies Football.

Tipp u16s now face Cavan in the All Ireland semi final due to be played this Friday 12th August at 7.30pm in Templetouhy. We wish the players and the management the best of luck and as the match is a home game for Tipp lets see a big support there next Friday night for the girls.

Development

U13/U15/U17 development is due to commence in the coming weeks. All clubs will be notified in due course as to what girls are eligible within their clubs and are encouraged to send all eligble girls.Development in Tipperary over the last 2/3yrs has yielded some great teams and players can even take a lot back to their clubs from these development squads.
