ULSTER FINAL FOR TYRONE THIS SATURDAY Tyrone under 16s Tyrone Under 16s will contest this weekends Ulster U16 championship final against Monaghan at Emyvale and after coming through the group stages unscathed its expected that this final could produce the best football of the year so far. Captained by Maeve Cobain from midfield ably assited by her midfield partner Neamh Woods Tyrone go into the final full of confidence but with niggling injuries threatening to spoil the party. That said Cobane who has vast expierience at club and county level being a member of the Carrickmore senior panel since 2001 is happy at the way 2005 has went so far Wed have to be happy with how things have gone so far. In fairness, the scorelines have maybe flattered us a little bit because theyre all tough games that weve played. Our performance against Cavan was much better than the performances before, as we seem to have moulded into a team as opposed to maybe relying on individuals. So the signs are good so far, we seem to be finding form at just the right time and hopefully we can continue that. Many of the current squad have been together before, with the exception of a few they all competed and collected an All Ireland Under 14 blitz and that, claims the captain means there is a great sense of unity in this panel This year its basically the same panel as we had at Under 14 level two years ago. We all know each other really well, and weve basically just picked up where we left off with that side. We had some good successes at that level, including winning the All-Ireland Under 14 Blitz, so were hoping we can do something similar at this level. Neamh Woods is currently playing some of her best football, no surprise then that she has been named as joint captain, the Drumragh playmaker has enjoyed success at schools level this year but feels the best is yet to come for the County side. We havent played to our full potential yet, weve still got a few more gears left in us yet. Were playing better now as a team than we did before, when we had a tendency to rely on individuals to see us through. Weve worked hard on that in the last few weeks, and I think weve benefited from it in the Cavan game especially. Tyrone eased themselves through the group stages , a stunning victoryagainst Cavan on route but Monaghan are a different prospect. Quality at all grades and they are keen to secure another provincial crown. Tyrone then will have to be at their best .but they do have a strong panel ..
