Annual General Meeting 2010

The rescheduled AGM took place in Lalor's Hotel, Dungarvan on Monday 18th January last, where Brendan Gallagher was returned unopposed, for a third term as Chairman. In a long meeting the main issues raised by delegates were the critical state of the County Boards finances and proposed payment of training and match fees to the new Intermediate Team Manager.

Treasurer Mary Walsh presented an excellent financial report to the delegates, which showed a very substantial increase in expenditure in 2009. A lively and prolonged debate ensued, with delegates voting in favour of a cap on spending in 2010 which is substantially lower than the money spent in 2009. More vigorous controls and monitoring of expenditure are to be put in place. The Chairman, Brendan Gallagher and Development Officer, George Younge made a commitment to leading the fund raising effort, with the help of the clubs, in 2010.

Secretary Grainne Flynn presented a very detailed and thorough report of 2009 covering all aspects of the Waterford Ladies County board activities. She congratulated the winners in all competitions and she thanked her fellow officers and clubs for their help throughout the year.

Registrar Marianne Cliffe reported that registrations were up significantly on the previous year and thanked clubs for their efforts in getting player registrations completed early in the year. George Younge reported on development, promising more in terms of coaching courses and club development.

The Fixtures Committee report that there was a significant improvement in getting the matches played on schedule. The running of U10 non-competitive Blitzes by clubs was very successful. The focus for 2010 would be to increase the number of games for club players at all grades. Clubs were thanked for the use of their fields and facilities and officers for officiating at finals.
Brendan Gallagher thanked the sponsors and in particular the main sponsor Saltan Properties, who have been very generous and loyal to Waterford Ladies Football over the years. The Chairman also thanked his fellow officers and all who helped him in his endeavors during the past year.
