The Wexford girls travelled to Mullingar yesterday to play Westmeath in the Bord Gáis Energy Division 2 League game, and came away with a 0-11 to 0-6 win.
This was a hard fought game but Wexford were never headed as they had played with the stiff breeze in the first and went in at half time leading 0-6 to 0-1.
Westmeath put it up to Wexford at the start of the second half and brought the score back to within two points before Wexford upped the pace and finished the stronger to leave five points between the teams.
Best for Wexford were Mary O’Neill, Shelly Doyle, Fiona Kavanagh, Fiona Rochford and Leona Tector.
