The Killeavy club member is an accomplished performer and is currently a member of the Guinness Choir Dublin and was a contestant on the 2012 Voice of Ireland programme.

Last weekend Maria Bergin sang the National Anthem at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick before the Cork versus Kerry TG4 All Ireland semi final. After Saturday’s performance from Dervla an overall winner will be chosen and will perform at the TG4 All Ireland Finals in Croke Park on September 27th.

Dervla and Maria were amongst the large number of people to enter into the LGFA National Anthem Competition in August. All entrants were required to send a CV with their musical experience and supply a Youtube clip of their previous performances. The quality of the contestants was extremely high with a huge variety from first time singers right through to the most experienced performers including contestants from TV programmes like The Voice of Ireland and Glór Tíre. Following an extensive review of all entrants Dervla and Maria were chosen as the semi finalists and offered the opportunity to perform at the TG4 All Ireland semi finals.

The overall winner will be announced on September 9th and the winner will perform at the TG4 All Ireland final on September 27th.
