In 2024, the LGFA will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding. Ahead of that event, Hayley Kilgallon, supported by the LGFA, is undertaking a PhD through the School of History at UCD, researching the history of Ladies’ Gaelic Football and the LGFA. As part of her research, she is looking for items like minute books, match reports, match programmes, photographs, letters, poems, songs, committee reports, memos, speeches and more related to the history of Ladies’ Gaelic Football over the past five decades at Club, County and Provincial levels. The items will be valuable resources in supporting Hayley’s research to put together a detailed account of all the key moments in Ladies’ Gaelic Football history. If you have any of the items described above and would like to share them with Hayley to support her research, please contact her at history@lgfa.ie with the following information: A short description of the item(s) (e.g., match programme from the 1990 All-Ireland Finals) Your name, phone number, county, and position within/to the LGFA (e.g., player, manager, committee member, supporter) Image(s) of the item(s) if possible Please feel free to share this with your clubs and other individuals who were involved in Ladies’ Football and might have items or information to share.
