Tesco Junior Post Primary School Semi Final Updates

The final whistles have blown and the semi finals are complete. We now know the 6 teams involved in the Tesco Junior Post Primary Schools Finals 2012

On Wednesday the 7th of March St Mary’s of New Ross in Wexford booked their place in the C Final when they overcame Loreto Clonmel by just a single goal. 3-06 to 2-06.

The next semi final didn’t happen until Thursday the 15th of March, and this match definitely threw out a shock result. For the second time this year, St Leo’s of Carlow were beaten at semi final stages. Colaiste Dun Iascaigh of Cahir were responsible for this as they were ahead by 2 points at the final whistle with a final score of 3-12 to 5-08 in the first of the junior A semi finals.

Friday the 16th of March saw all of the remaining 4 games being played at various locations around the Country.

In Mullahoran in Co. Cavan Glenamaddy Community School in Galway were beaten by Loreto Omagh in the Junior A semi final. It was close, only four points between them as the game finished Glenamaddy 1-9 to Loreto 2-10. This victory means that Loreto Omagh will have a junior team competing in the Junior A final and a Senior Team competing in the Senior A Final.

In the Junior B Championship St Brigids Convent of Mercy in Tuam scored a huge 5-09 to beat Loreto Moville’s 0-12 to book their place in the final. On the other side of the draw Coláiste Iosagáin from Stillorgan had to battle hard to shake off the challenge of St Augustine’s of Dungarvin. At the end of full time the side were level, the Dublin students pulled away in extra time to win with a final score of 2-13 to 2-09.

And in the final semi final of the Tesco Junior Post Primary Championship it was Dunmore Community School of Galway who were the better team on the day as they beat Loreto Milford of Donegal with a final score of 4-14 to 2-03.
