Nine in a row for Glen Ladies

Saturday 15th September’s County Ladies Championship
final made it nine in a row for Glen Ladies. This is the clubs
eleventh Championship win since the club’s formation in 1995.

After technical difficulties were sorted with floodlighting
the match started an hour late. Getting off to a good start,
things looked to be going really well for Glen Ladies, until
the Doire Colmcille girls scored three unanswered points late
in the first half, which left the score at half-time Glen
1-8 to Doire Colmcille 0-4. The second half saw Glen once
more getting into their stride scoring a goal and three points
unanswered until Doire Colmcille scored from the penalty spot.

This was to be the last score for Doire Colmcille. Glen continued
their scoring tally by adding another three goals and some
greatly taken points. This was to leave a final score of Glen
5-16 to Doire Colmcille 1-4.

Glen Captain, Kathy Conway received the cup on behalf of Glen
Ladies and thanked Doire Colmcille for their spirited performance,
Glenullin for the use of their premises and the County Board
for all their hard work throughout the year. She also took
the opportunity to thank the Glen girls, manager Colm Joyce
and all those involved with the club.
