Following a day of heavy rain on Friday, Saturday dawned a dry, mild & bright day, perfect for a game of football. Thanks to Carbury GAA for allowing this final to go ahead on their pitch, which was in great condition and they could’nt of been more helpful.
It was an exciting game to the end, Both teams being very evenly matched. Maynooth made Na Fianna work hard throughout the game and whenever it looked like the game was getting away from them they managed to narrow the gap again. A Stout Na Fianna Defence and a few missed opportunities meant however that Maynooth could not get any closer than 4 points in the end. Na Fianna led by Captain Roisin Murphy gave a great all round solid team performance which stood to them at the final whistle. Maynooth to their credit never gave up & can be proud of their performance. A great sporting game of football was enjoyed by all!
