Banner Ladies 7 – 16                Cooraclare 2 – 7

Reigning champions Banner Ladies cruised to victory in their opening game in defence of their title in this early morning game played in a sunny Cooraclare on Sunday.

County star Niamh O’Dea could not be held and she scored a massive 4 – 8 for her side to break Cooraclare hearts on her own.  With Louise Henchy and Rachel Grogan also in fine form for the winners the Sky Blues had no answer to the town team’s power plays despite commendable efforts from Helen Quinn, Roisín Looney and Aoife O’Neill in particular.

The Banner Ladies led by 2 – 8 to 1 – 3 at half time and already the game was over as a contest.  As Cooraclare spirits dropped in the second half the Ennis side added a further 5 – 8 to their opponents 1 – 4 to run out comprehensive victors on a final scoreline of 7 – 16 to 2 – 7.
