Big Weekend for Dual Stars

Briege Corkery in action against Noeleen Lambert 30/8/2014
The 2014 TG4 All Ireland Football Finals will take place at Croke Park on September 28th but for several of the players that will be involved in those matches there is another massive occasion this weekend as they line out for their counties in the Liberty Insurance All Ireland Camogie Finals.
Cork will have plenty of interest in both the Ladies Football Finals and the Camogie Finals as three of their players are likely to feature on both occasions. Football captain, Briege Corkery, was player of the match for the Cork camogie team that overcame Wexford after a replay, she will joined by her midfield partner from the football field, Rena Buckley and the third of the number is Angela Walsh who is a superb exponent of the skills of both camogie and football.
However, the interest does not end there as Down’s Karen McMullan will also be taking to the field in Croke Park twice this month as she will also represent her county in the premier Junior Camogie final as Down take on Laois at 12pm. Karen is one of the top camogie players in Down having started with her county in 2004 operating in the middle of the field. Success has mainly come for Karen at club level with Liatroim Fontenoys with who she has won 6 Down Senior Club Championships and 7 League titles and she has twice gone on to win All Ireland junior club titles.
Karen will be hoping to add her first All Ireland county title to all of her club honours this weekend but come what may she will return to Croke Park with the Down Ladies Football team who will contest the TG4 All Ireland Intermediate Championship Final against Fermanagh on September 28th. Karen has just joined the Down senior panel for the first time this year but has made an immediate impact as a midfield player.
The Ladies Gaelic Football Association would like to wish the very best of luck to all of the players taking part in all 3 Camogie Finals this weekend and especially those who will be back on September 28th for the TG4 All Ireland Football Finals.
