Clare's Fidelma Marrinan leads the race for the 2023 ZuCar Golden Boot award!

CLARE’S Fidelma Marrinan is the leader in the race for the 2023 ZuCar Golden Boot award!

With a total of 2-19 (25 points), Marrinan heads the leaderboard and is five points clear of nearest challenger Marie Kealy of Wicklow, who has amassed 1-17 (20 points) to date.

Clare’s next outing in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship is a home quarter-final against Westmeath on Sunday July 9, as the Senior and Junior players in the race have the chance to make up some ground over the coming weekend.

Dublin skipper Carla Rowe scored 3-6 against Cavan last Saturday to propel herself into the race for the individual award, which will be won by the top scorer across the TG4 All-Ireland Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championships.

But Rowe will have to wait for the chance to add to her total, with Dublin set to learn the identity of their quarter-final opponents on Saturday evening.

Antrim’s Orlaith Prenter, the Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month for May, is another player in the hunt for the ZuCar Golden Boot award, as is Westmeath’s Aoife Connolly.

Antrim will play Monaghan in the Intermediate quarter-final on July 9, with Connolly and Westmeath pitting their wits against Marrinan and her Clare colleagues.
