DONEGAL LADIES G.A.A. NOTES

DONEGAL LADIES G.A.A. NOTES

Donegal U16 girls showed on Saturday last in Convoy the talent available and the commitment from team and management to reach such a high standard of football. Tyrone were not the only losers on the day but all those who stayed away missed as fine a performance from a Donegal team men and women as I have ever seen and I have been going to county games since
1952.They were clinical in their approach and the gel between the squad was self evident . We all owe Kenny Griffin a large debt for his time and effort for the last eighteen years and with the mentors Hugh Molloy and Dave Mc Laughlin have done an excellent job both at Minor and U16 to have two Ulster titles in seven days. The U14’s meeting Monaghan in the Ulster final at
Convoy this Saturday the girls are trying to make it a hat trick. The final score last Saturday was : Donegal 7–8 Tyrone 2–7.
Now to things more domestic, we had several club games at all levels but the level of results reaching this P.R.O .is still away below what is required to give the game the publicity it deserves. There will be a bit of lull with third level, leaving and junior cert exams in the pipe line some games will have to be put on the back foot for a few weeks as their education comes first.
