Down Ladies Update

Round-up

A lot of last weeks fixtures were postponed due to involvement in Castlewellan 7’s and the County Minors playing on Saturday afternoon.
Getting back on track this week in the Senior league on Saturday evening, Saval are in a good vein of form and should account for Rostrevor. Carryduff had a walkover against Clonduff last week and they face a tough challenge against Castlewellan. The Town girls will be favourites but they should already be well warned of the Carryduff threat. Bryansford travel to Bredagh and they will find themselves up against a strong Belle outfit. It is hard to see anything other than a home win. Downpatrick entertain Clonduff and they will feel unlucky not to have more points on the board. Clonduff are struggling to find their rhythm and the hoops might just benefit from their lack of form.

In the Intermediate league, Bright and Burren meet in what should be a close affair. Bright are unbeaten but Burren have probably been the more in form side. An away win cannot be ruled out. Shamrocks travel to Bredagh and if their forwards bring their shooting boots then they should be strong enough to collect both points. Mayobridge entertain league leaders Annaclone and they will find the Clone girls a difficult opposition to beat. Ballymartin make the journey to Kilcoo and this is likely to be a tough but entertaining encounter. Kilcoo surprisingly are pointless and the whites have had a mixed start to their campaign, these games are normally close and a draw could be on the cards.

In the Junior league, Loughinisland should be too strong for St Johns. Drumgath travel to St. Michaels and the Magheralin girls have been improving steadily and they could be looking at their first home win of the season. The Fin welcome Saul and they should have enough to see off the challenge. Teconnaught travel to Bryansford and on paper they should be too strong for the Newcastle girls but they should be aware that this is very useful Bryansford 2nd string.

The Go-Games are scheduled to start on Saturday and all clubs should be aware that these games are for fun only. No scores or league tables are kept. In the spirit of the game all clubs are asked to work with each other to ensure that all girls receive ample opportunity to participate.
