DUBLIN V CLARE NFL DIVISION 2A SUNDAY 11 MARCH 2007

DUBLIN 0-13 V CLARE 0-5

Dublin made the long trek to Milltown Mallbay on Sunday
last for their third match in this years National Football
League. Dublin got off to a good start with points from
Colleen Barrett and Sinead Finnegan before Clare got off
the mark with a Majella Griffin free. Dublin extended their
lead with two well executed frees from Natalia Hyland to
leave the score at 0-4 to 0-1 at the break. Conditions became
tough in the second half, but the Dubs continued to press
forward and in the first fifteen minutes of the second half
points from Louise Kelly, Fiona Corcoran and Mary Nevin
who accounted for 0-6 of the Dublin total put the game beyond
reach for the banner.

Overall it was a gutsy team performance with, Denise Masterson,
Maria Kavanagh, Siobhán McGrath and Niamh McEvoy dominating
in defence, Sinead Finnegan put in a player of the match
performance in midfield covering every inch of the park
and up front, Corcoran, Nevin, and Natalia Hyland worked
tirelessly in the half forward line and inside Kelly, Barrett
and McGuiness proved to be a constant threat.

4 Dublin players made their senior county debuts in the
match and each acquitted themselves admirably, Niamh McEvoy
was a powerhouse at midfield and Aoife Greene from the Fingallians
club did well at corner back. Denise McKenna when introduced
proved to be a huge threat and Louth native Anne Marie Murphy
showed her experience and is a good addition to the squad.
Dublin play Leitrim this weekend in the final league game.
