Fermanagh Juvenile Awards night

Fermanagh ladies honoured their Under 14, Under 16 and Minor Ulster runner up teams with a medal presentation in the Bawnacre sports centre in Irvinestown,
County Fermanagh on the night of November 10th. This was the first time in Fermanagh ladies history that all three juvenile teams had reached Ulster finals in the same season. It was a great credit to the commitment and effort of the players and management of all the juvenile teams that this notable milestone was achieved. Many of the players on the under 14 and under 16 panels had come onto the county panels through the Fermanagh ladies development panels, thus proving the worth of the work being carried out by the development committee.
The minors lost their Ulster final to a very good Cavan side, the under 16s lost their Ulster final to another excellent Cavan side who went on to claim the All Ireland title and the under 14s were beaten by Derry.
There were a number of Player of the year awards presented on the night to very deserving receipients and these were, Shauna Beggan from the Aughdrumsee club was named the under 14 county player of the year 2012, Shannan Mc Quade from the Tempo club was named the under 16 county player of the year and Roisin O’Reilly from the Kinawley club was named the minor county player of the year. The awards were sponsored by the outgoing manager of the under 16 and minor county teams, David Mee. This was David’s last official act as manager of the two juvenile teams in Fermanagh before he takes up his new position as manager of the Monaghan minor ladies for 2013.
The year overall can be classed as a success with all the juvenile teams reaching Ulster finals but the next step to winning a provincial title is one that has eluded Fermanagh thus far but with the hard work being done at development level that title can’t be far away.
