Foxrock Cabinteely Crowned Dublin Junior A Champions Foxrock Cabinteely 5-18, Croi Ro Naofa 4-7 Foxrock Cabinteely captured the Dublin Ladies Junior A title last night at O Toole Park in a highly entertaining football. Building on recent underage success including All Ireland Feile Div 1, U14 and U16 doubles, Foxrock Cabinteely won their first adult title by overcoming a spirited Croi Ro Naofa side. Played in excellent conditions, both teams gave a display of skilled football. Foxrock Cabinteely opened with 2 quick points from Amy Ring and Ann Marie Murphy before Ring found the Croi Ro Naofa net with a well taken goal. Further points from Louise Stafford, Marla Candon(2) and Sinead Murphy saw the Foxrock Cabinteely girls take a strong early lead. Ann Marie Murphy and Amy Ring again found the net before half time. Points from Amy Connolly and 2 further pointed frees from Amy Ring had Foxrock Cabinteely entering the break with a strong lead. In the second half Croi Ro Naofa lifted their game and began to close the gap with well taken scores. The Foxrock Cabinteely defence came under intense pressure with Lisa Murphy and Allison Phillips getting a steady supply from Nicola Murphy. Goalkeeper Sinead Murphy brought off a top class save from a well taken penalty. Caroline Callan, Kirstie Mc Ardle and Elaine Bolger steadied the ship midway through the second half. The Foxrock Cabinteely Team Sinead Goldrick, Sarah Brophy and Blainaid Callan ensured that the supply line to the dangerous Croi Ro Naofa inside line was limited. Marla Candon gave an inspiring captains display throughout the match. Ciara Murphy at midfield helped to settle things early in the second half with a long range point. Doireann O Daly covered every inch of the pitch and created numerous chances for her colleagues. Louise Stafford and Sinead Loughran goals opened a formidable lead in the second half with further points from Ann Marie Murphy (2), Amy Connolly and Sinead Murphy. Ann Marie Murphy rounded off a great night deservedly winning the player of the match award. A special mention goes to Tony Lennon who gave a great performance as Referee.
