13 April 2015 Gaelic4Girls Roadshow Takes Off in Britain Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! This weekend saw the first ever Gaelic4Girls Training take place in Britain. The training, which is spread over two weekends, was in Ruislip, London for the London clubs on the Saturday and in Oxford for the new Gloucestershire/Hertfordshire (Glo/Herts) County Board on the Sunday. The Saturday saw an enthusiastic group of members representing Tara GFC, Tir Chonaill Gaels, Parnells, Holloway Gaels and Glen Rovers in attendance. All were put through their paces by the LGFA National Development Officers focusing on the structures and ethos of the Gaelic4Girls programme. The initial section of the training focused on how the programme will be coordinated including promotion and organisation while the latter section of the training saw participants taking part in some of the many fun gaelic games activities that they will be coaching during their own programmes in the club. The same training took place in Oxford on the Sunday with another bunch of enthusiastic members from Éire Óg (Oxford), Claddagh Gaels (Luton), St. Colmcilles (Cardiff) and Western Gaels (Bristol) taking part. The new Glo/Herts County Board has only been in place for a number of weeks and this was an exciting opportunity for everyone involved to help set the foundations for underage girls football in the county. In addition to the Gaelic4Girls training, the afternoon of both days were also action packed as officers of the clubs in both counties were provided with Club Officer training which included discussion on their roles, the injury fund, registrations, transfers and much more . The two workshops were very informative and the participants were provided with tools to allow them to fulfil their roles in a more confident manner in 2015. Next weekend will see the development team heading to Manchester for the Lancashire County Board training on Saturday and Coventry on Sunday to facilitate the clubs from Warwickshire. This again will entail both Gaelic4Girls Training and Club Officer Workshops and we look forward to meeting the many clubs involved and providing the necessary support in what should be another hugely successful weekend for LGFA in Britain.
